Scavenger 03:29
Scavenger- Danielle Savage 2013 These stuffy bureaucrats, they drink their faces off, They'll keep going, as long as it's on the house, yeah. One woman looks at me, she closes in on me, She feels entitled to take a picture She did not need to ask, I guess that's how we bask, in the glory of a world without privacy. Oh, thank god we're sneaky people Oh, Living off the fat. Oh, just because it's a consensual story, Don't mean it's the only, The only plot. I used to get so angry, but it's all ludicrous, I enter suspension of disbelief, yeah. These vacant bureaucrats, they're wearing many hats, And you can be sure they all cost a fortune. They do it on our dime, it's using up our time, And we're too busy to get offended. They do not need to ask, I guess that's how we bask, in a world where the truth is stranger than fiction.

Dance 06:41
Dance!----(danielle savage-written in Winlaw, May 2010 & New Brunswick, Sept. 26, 2010) You hold your tongue so tight, you won't say another word about the world or your life, and you can't move to the music because someone put a stick in you and then they gone and glued you to the chair, oh yes now then they gone and glued you to the chair, then they gone and glued you to the chair.... Said who put the stick in you my friend, who went and tied you to the chair? And who told you that the proper thing to do was just to hold your tongue and give us all a stare, alright, to just hold real stiff and make pretend you care, hold your tongue and give us all a stare?... Dance, dance, dance Dance, dance, dance....dance, dance, dance You keep your face so scrunched as if the world depended on your utmost diligence and worry like if you weren't fussing over every detail of how it's put together well then surely now it would fall apart, oh yes now surely well then it would fall apart, alright now, surely well then it would fall apart... Said who put the stick in you my friend? Who went and glued you to the chair? And who told you that the best thing you could do would be to clench your jaw and give the room a stare? Alright now, to scrunch your face and pretend your not there? Oh yes now, clench your jaw and give the room a stare? Dance, dance, dance Dance, dance dance....dance, dance, dance Dance, before you atrophy, dance to save your limbs, dance to throw the bondage off, dance, dance to fulfill your whims/ cue you of your fright. Now your exaggeration about your preoccupation with some more "important" issues than what's here is not, is not fooling anybody for now we all know that you don't move your body because you~ cannot, that's right I said, you don't shake it for you are too stuck, I said now, you aren't dancing because you are fucked. Said who put the stick in you my friend? Who went and glued you to the chair? And who told you that the best thing you could do would be to look the other way and hold a stare? Oh, yah, just to get uptight and hold still-stay right there, just hold real tight and pretend your not there....clench your jaw and pretend your not theeeeeeere. (dance to save the soul of night, dance to set your body right, dance until the morning light, dance to git your gittin' on, dance for want of ritual, dance to fill the many holes...)

On my mind 02:46
"On My Mind"© Danielle Savage 2008 I got something on my mind. I've got something on my mind. I've got something I think you should see. Said if you wanna help me please, then baby please don't feed, The monster that is dying inside me. I got something on my mind. I've got something in my life. I've got something I think I should say... I said I can't hold my tongue no more, can't keep these thoughts locked up indoors, I've something I think I should say: "My heart can't hold it all inside, My heart can only calm this mind, If I let it out (If I let it out) I've got to get some breathing room Communicate and pop this balloon. And feel at ease. And feel at ease. Eeease. I got something on my back. I've got something to cut it slack. I've got something ready to let go. Said I wanna help you feel, That there's something in this life that's real So let's move past the monsters in our beds. Said I need to help you feel, That something in this life is real. So let's get past the monsters in our heads.

I don't mean to be rude.---danielle savage---written on Norma Chargoys roof in Coyoacan, Mexico, d.f., on jan. 5, 2009. Yes I'm sure we've gone mad, and I truly care. i know that you can feel it too, whether or not you choose to share. I've quit understanding why there's merit in holding it in, but instead of cutting power grids, I'm gonna sing… My- heart is fluctuating. I- feel elated then like shaking. Where you go to find your solitude? I don't wanna be curt, I don't mean to be rude. Yes it's a mess, there are too many things to care about- but do yourself a favour, and know what you can do without. I was overtaken, by a senseless pity. but now my face won't leak no more, I'm starting to breathe. My- whole world is oscillating. I- feel elated then like breaking. Where (do) you go to find your solitude? I don't wanna be curt, I don't mean to be rude. Oooh, but it's good for you. This solitude, I don't mean to seem removed. But it's ne, necessary. Oh, Yes I'm a handful, and we all gotta be, accountable for ourselves. But I just don't get why it's worth it, to hold it, so tight. Who was I trying to spare? Going through the motions, though I couldn't bear it. But I am here, despite myself, and I'm not made of accidents, and I don't have to yell. So right, right, right I don't want to be. Oh, it's only you, that's good for me..…. Oh the whole world, is fluctuating. I- feel (all) elated then like shaking. Where (do ) you go to find your solitude? I don't mean to be curt, I don't mean to be rude. I don't mean to be curt, I don't wanna be rude. I don't wanna be curt, I don't mean to be rude. I don't mean to be curt, I don't mean to be rude.

WE NEEDN'T BOTHER: danielle savage. sept. 8&9, 2010 We needn't bother with clever urban planners, or more architects merely fanning out the feathers of a great, grandiose, but altogether trite, even if decorous design, made to lay out all the details, of the human landscape within these walls, within the world and the space form which it draws, now, every last bit of the air we breathe, and every pre-meditated little seed, that's propelling us forward with big ideas, bigger sacks of food and bigger wheels on our big new trucks that take you to and fro on wider roads which help to ship the goods you know, but is it bringing you home? Is it getting you closer, to the freedom you long to own? oh perhaps Oh, we needn't bother at all, if it's not for the sake of a good story. Said what's your motivation if you can't get a breath of air, then oooh, you needn't bother at all. We needn't mess around so messily with big machines and destructive dreams, of revamping, stamping, reordering and championing the globe, and then beyond! into brand new homes and businesses, all suited to your particular income level and made to lease-to-own, and then flip for something bigger and better gonna get prepared to bake the batter and then knead it, beat it, roll our the land and weed it, pave it deprave it, and waive our right to change it. And if you can't breathe, but for the lack of natural scenery, blame it on fashion, it's much more in vogue to erect strip malls you know, you gotta have a place to call your own But oh! you needn't bother building it at all--if it aint what you really want and it aint built to last--said what's the motivation if you aint even gonna spend any time there, then woah, you needn't bother at all We needn't try ourselves with every obligation that only serves the attitude, and a highly over-rated one, that more is better and bigger serves a better man, and you better work to make sure you get the better end of the big stick we all biting down on, our jaws are clenched and we tugging hard to get it on our side, oh to gain impunity, from being taken for a ride, oh, because no one wants to be a sucker--- but to be so averted to ones own vulnerability as to adopt an air of almost callous flippancy, oh you've got to be off your rocker, and that's why i maintain that oh, we needn't bother at all, I can't see for whose sake it'd be worth it. Said drop the motivations and come out for a breath of air--oh, you needn't bother at all said oh, we needn't bother at all. If it's not for the sake of your enjoyment. What's the motivation if you can't get a breath of air, oh, oh, we needn't bother at ah-ah-ah-all.

Empire 07:34
Clear out, empire!--written in pieces from Minneapolis in 2004, May 26 2010 (Penticton), & Sept. 14 2010 (New brunswick)--danielle savage Empire, e-empire, empire I bleed you. Who wrote this, who-oo wrote this. it's not good for your eyes to read. Woah, insidious it grew, in our buildings and traffic lanes. I ask for a breath of fresh air as I stop to test my whereabouts--it's been going in circles for too long. ...but it never wants to see Empire, burning burning fire, foaming at the mouth with rabid greed. But who noticed, who noticed? It's not good for your lungs to breathe (it). Too big to fail, too big to grow, it's too big to last, and with all it's weak links, it shall collapse... ...from within, but it never wants to see, to see, to see ...that what it's taking down, it itself from within. It's mining gold, it's spitting from it's mouth the pogroms, and it's hoarding it's futile winnings. It's got it's empty eye on accumulating fortune, and doling out punishment to those who dissent, or see it another way, but another way is coming, it's inevitable... So clear out, empire! The next world is waiting, it can't stay un-manifest for very much longer, and truth be told, that we ourselves are the midwives, to bring it forth... It's breaking countries, breaking ground and moral fiber, instilling fear into the heart of our heartland. It's just a lie, it is the 1000 headed monster, and it will tell you whatever it thinks you need to hear, to quell your questions, and if that doesn't work it'll squirt napalm death and accuse the victims (of perpetration)... So clear out, empire! The next world is waiting, it can't stay un-manifest for very much longer. it's inevitable, it's inevitable...(we will bring ourselves there) It isn't terror, it isn't hate. It isn't morbid fascination with the control of the state. it isn't vengeance, nor a need to escape. It isn't simple rebellion that needs to feel this way. But it is longing, for sanity. A trust that this is possible, and that we hold the key. So clear out, empire! The next world is waiting. it don't matter what you say, anymore. You've made it impossible to stay here. So I'll go then, I will go then. I will go... So clear out, empire! The next world is waiting, it can't stay un-manifest for very much longer. And truth be told that we ourselves are the midwives to bring it forth. Bring it forth. Bring it forth.

Abolition 01:53
Abolition: Danielle Savage 2005? Don't feel much like crying this morning, solid form don't trick this mind today, But the walls are telling tales, of someone else's life, I guess I'll learn to listen to them say, Oh, maybe you're an angel or a cajun, listen to their theories on this day, Woah, put yourself on track, with someone else's life, I guess I'll learn to have it my way. Because no matter what I ask for it comes here, but all my fleeting thoughts had gone awry, Oh when the answers didn't come, oh yah the walls were slightly paled, but how do I count the ways I love this guy. Countenance gets covered by the martyrs, patches mend small holes we make in time, Oh but the rivers do not stop, for octagon signs or a drop, The drop will only make the water fall. Days get overruled by the night. Night comes in to line of sight. Oh but my eyes work just as good, as I ever thought they should, when you hold my hand them tears fall out my eyes. Oh, don't feel much like crying this morning, if the sun don't shine to carry me away, not every day is a day like this, could you stand in my light to shade the heat, and I'll be here.

Home Is Where Your Attention Is- DSavage 2008 Home is where your attention is, keep it in you and let it live. Rolling through or staying here, all beginnings, ends are here. Oh you see, things will be you see them, oh you be, be your thoughts the way you need them. Move into my bones, hear the tide its rolling, show me my teeth, so I can bite right through this rope and wriggle myself free, 'cuz I been here awhile, so pleeeease, please, don't let up on me. I been locked up in a jail house of rationale with great big bars, and all the while the door was ajar and the ground was hard. Oh you see, how do I keep my mind from shaking? Oh, as I leave, leave these bars and wander out.... I can see you in the eyes of my fellow men. I can hear you, in the words, in the words of those who came before me. Now tell me, now tell me, now tell me yeah. Now tell me how do I leave these bars, and wander out? Leave this room and wander out? Things will be the way you see them. Yeah, oh. Things will be the way you see. Things will be, things will be eeeeeee... Things will be....

Wildabeast 05:25
Wildabeast: Written in Calgary in December, 2009 in Bowness I've got a throb, in my chest, I've got a feeling coming outta my breast, and you've got parts that need it too, so why don't we get together and see it through, because I don't wanna think about the race, distract myself with details and the chase of monetary gains, stupid little pains! But I've got an idea better than that, i've got a predatory feeling ready to attack, and it's prey is you, I pray, and it's prey is you, I pray. Said I don't care if we're animals or not! Unleash a wildabeast on you, made of human heart, and it will thicken up the plot, and it will thicken up the ploooot Because I ~ was made to give love. And you~ you may be my release. Give up the front, let it shake your mind, don't write it down, forget about time, I've caught a feeling I don't want to define, I'll show you yours if you show me mine. It's so vast that I won't describe it, I can't fake it, I don't take bribes, but I'll take it on with all my heart, I will take it on within my heart! Because I've got a throb in my chest, I've got a feeling coming out of my breast, and you've got parts that need it, too, so why don't we get together and see it through, because I don't wanna get caught up in thinking, 'bout whether in the end we'll be floating or sinking, I just wanna move right now, we could swim in this ocean, I will show you how, Because I ~ was made to breathe love. And you~ you were made for this too. Yeeeah, You were made for this, too. I've got a throb in my chest, I've got a feeling coming out of my breast, and I know that you need it, too, so why don't we get together and work it through, because I don't wanna think about no racing, bout monetary gains and the stuff I should be chasing, distracted little games, and stupid little pains, but I've got an idea better than that! I've got a feral feeling ready to attack! and it's prey is you, I pray, and it's prey is you, I pray.... Because I ~ was made to breathe love, yeeeah. And you~ you were made for this too. Yeeeah, you, you, yeeeah, yeeee ah ah You were made for this, too.

Wolf 05:03
When the Wolf Walks By When the wolf walks by, you realize, you may have something in common with him. Now you may be some kind of fowl, and be his tonight's dinner. Or maybe it may be that you are he, you are the wolf----and you move, with your instincts. And you may not like it, but as long as you are here and you are the wolf, by god you gotta eat something, you know you gotta eat something, you're hungry gotta eat something, something, something. When the wolf trots by, you~ realize- you recognize yourself in his eyes, in his eyes. Now you may be some kind of hard nose~got it all set in stone, but it only takes a moment for you to feel something~ something you don't quite grasp, and it puts you ill at eeeaaassseee, ease, ease, ease- Because his gait is swift, and his eyes are fierce, and he represents, a fatalistic approach that could help you a lot if you were willing to pierce through the sham comfort of not being direct and expecting someone to read into your convoluted words and save you from the sorrow of not reaching and taking what you need, need, need, Need, need need. instumental chords (2,3,4,3) Now what struck you, is when you saw them eating mice. Or when they scrounge for earthworms and berries and frogs. Now they'll always eat the best first, and pray on weak members of the herd, and there's justice, in this attack, even though it's not an altruistic act. They just happen to be easy to catch.

Pathos 05:14
Pathos- for the kid who always wanted to go fishing in the desert While you front, your friends are living more honestly, Make it up, while you tell everybody what you, haven't seen, Rolling your eyes around inside your skull don't get you out of here, Pathological lies don't buy you time, dear, Said don't woo me with your speech on truth, or try to bring it home by playing it cooth, because, oh, I can see you now, said you, I can see you now… The forces that exerted themselves on you, were out of your control. You were just a little kid, and now you're all fuckered up. But you can be however you want, you just gotta believe in it, and get outta here, Because you're family is evil and I am sad for you, But you're dangerously close to becoming one of them, 'said you, you are only 16 years old, but you, you should run away, 'said you, you could find a better place. There's someone looking out for you, protecting your ass and cooking you food. He even taught you read, and did what he could within his limited capacity, but you gotta take it from here, Because the day you'll take care of your own is drawing near, Said just hold it up, high in your mind, the archetype of what they're trying to find, and you will move on, 'Said you reveal how predictable our heroes are. You should read some Steinbeck and maybe some Farley Mowat, Hear some different stories, then make your own, after that. Because in your anger, there's the power to heal, the shit circumstance, messing up the ideal. For every idea that's bought and sold, we got a whole lotta stories that've never been told. But you, how you gonna tell 'em now? 'Said you, how you gonna tell 'em now?

Great power- written 2005 in New Orleans. Great power, gonna roam the streets. I need to see your face, I need to see your face.
